XENON
flexibility
The concept for the public transport shelter system XENON was established from a series of five design drafts for DSM. The origin of XENON was - as the first drafts show - the desire for a system that incorporates flexibility and can be ideally adapted to the residual conditions with an appearance that is accordingly open. Inspired by the modular structure of a spine with its pliability and strength, the form was developed from a line of pillars supported by cantilevers that give the user the ability to establish a curved course using the flexibility of different panels.

openness
This flexibility in the layout that is established by the distinctive sequence of the segments, essentially characterises the appearance. The simple structure of the pillars and the transparent surface elements add to the open effect. In my view, such an "openness", which also means that XENON is not intended to be the focus but rather in a dialogue with the urban environment, is indispensible for street furniture.

independence
In order to strengthen the independent character of the system, a special oval profile element was designed in which all connections come together. So each single pillar consists of one vertical and one angled segment.
Draft
for an aluminium profile with integrated connection possibilities.
All other elements such as lighting units, glass surfaces, seating furniture are connected with the pillars fitting to the appearance. In order to set apart the appearance and colour of the product line, different filling profiles were planned from the initial phase.
