design process

There is always a preparation phase with briefing, proposal and job assignment at the beginning of each project. My design developments typically consist of three phases. 1.0 design concept

Establishing the design concept is the most important phase of the entire process. It is about elaborating on suitable solutions for concept formulation and filtering out the best. The results of this project phase are concept suggestions from which the most promising will be selected for further development.

1.1 analysis

Within the analysis phase, I collect and evaluate with the customer all available information on the market situation and on the functional and technical aspects. This is how I substantiate the requirements of the product that is to be developed.

1.2 concept

For detailed task formulation, I develop concept suggestions that show approaches for product structure, the functional principle, the possibilities for production and then demonstrate the first formal design elements. The concept suggestions are presented using drawings and proportional models, if required.

2.0 draft design

In the design phase, I further elaborate on the selected concept suggestion. Technical and creative aspects are given a concrete form and a final draft design is presented for the implementation sign-off.

2.1 details

At the beginning of the design phase, I work on creative and technical details and different versions are tested and evaluated with the customer.

2.2 design definition

Subsequently, I start to elaborate on the exact draft design, in parallel and coordination with the technical construction. The final draft is usually transferred into a prototype or design model with the help of which a decision for implementation is made.

3.0 design implementation

During the implementation phase, the prototype is produced, tested and final modifications in the design are made for series production. The tested prototypes are used to make a final sign-off decision for series production.

3.1 design optimisation / prototype

In this phase, modifications in design for series production are carried out, including editing of designs for packaging, accessories and product documentation.

3.2 production support

I fully support the start of the production and am responsible for surfaces, colours and sign-off for the relevant parts in order to bring the d esign to life. .
